Mon Sheong Foundation members receive Coronation Medal
Another seven members of Mon Sheong Foundation received the King Charles III Coronation Medal, bringing the total number to receive the award to 11.
Lt.-Gov. of Ontario Edith Dumont presented the most recent round of medals at an award presentation at Mon Sheong Scarborough Long-Term Care Centre on April 10.
The seven recipients who received the medal are Pauline Con, widow of Rev. Dr. Ronald Con, Founding Convenor; Jo-Cy Lee, Vice President; David Li, Vice-Chair of Honorary Governors; Garth Low, President; Clement Tsang, Honorary Governor; Dr. Kan Yan Chow, former Board Member and Honorary Governor; and Stephanie Wong, CEO.
The honourees join Tim Kwan, Chairman; Frank Chau, Special Advisor to the Board; Joseph Tsang, Board Member; and Eddie Leung, volunteer, as medal recipients from Mon Sheong Foundation.
“The esteemed group comprises of leaders in philanthropy, medicine, law and the public sector who have contributed valuable time and expertise to supporting vulnerable communities, exemplifying the Mon Sheong spirit of ‘Caring for the Elderly and Nurturing the Young,’” the organization reports.
“We thank the Mon Sheong selection committee for their thoughtful nominations,” says Kwan. “On behalf of the Foundation, I express the deepest gratitude to my fellow recipients, who played an instrumental role in expanding the scope and quality of our services.”
The Coronation Medal was established to mark the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, 2023. The medal is awarded to 30,000 individuals who have made a significant contribution to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region of, or community in Canada.
Mon Sheong Foundation is Canada’s first registered charity to specialize in services for the Chinese community. It’s home to four long-term care centres, three Chinese school campuses, a youth group, two community and volunteer services centres, three independent senior living apartments, and private care and charity care units.
