Man charged with sexual assault involving youth victims

The York Regional Police have charged a man with sexual assault on multiple counts, just days apart, involving youth victims.

On August 14 at around 11:30 a.m., the victim was talking on a trail in the area of Bayview Avenue and Highway 7 when the victim was approached the suspect. The suspect then covered the victim’s mouth and touched her for sexual purposes.

The victim was able to free herself and fled.

Soon after, the suspect was located in the area of Bathurst Street and Highway 7 and taken into custody.

Two days prior, a similar incident occurred in the same area. On August 12, at approximately 3:15 p.m., a youth victim was walking in the area of Highway 7 and Bayview Avenue when she was approached by the suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim, attempted to cover her mouth and touched her for a sexual purpose.

The victim was able to free herself in that incident as well and fled.

Investigators are releasing a photo of the accused as they believe there are additional victims.
