York Regional Police is one of Canada’s top 100 employers of young people in 2018. It’s also the only police service to earn the award, which recognizes employers with the best workplaces and programs for those launching their careers.

Canada’s Top 100 Employers project editors evaluated thousands of employers and selected the local police service for several reasons, including a mentor program that partners experienced and junior members to help develop specific skills and knowledge to enhance the recruit’s professional career path.

York police were also lauded for a summer student employment program open to students in police foundations, criminology or related programs, as well as a young professionals internal support network that fosters a supportive work environment and breaks stereotypes associated with various generations.

“I am very proud of the programs and initiatives we have at York Regional Police to support our young employees and equally as proud our organization has been recognized on a national level for our efforts,” said Chief Eric Jolliffe.
