Witnesses sought after shots fired in Markham

Police seek witnesses following a shooting that occurred in the City of Markham.

On June 17 shortly after 2 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence
on Ascot Crescent for a report of the sound of gunshots. When officers arrived they located several
shell casings as well as bullet holes in a garage door. No one was injured.

Officers are asking any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time who have not yet spoken
to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the
area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways in the area at the time of the
shooting.

York Regional Police is asking residents and business owners in our community to partner with us in
community safety by signing up for the new Security Camera Registry. The Security Camera Registry
gives members of the community the option to let York Regional Police know they have installed
residential or commercial security cameras, which may assist police if a crime later occurs in that
area.

With just a couple of clicks, you can make your neighbourhood a safer place. Participants can visit
yrp.ca/RegisterMyCam and complete the brief online registration form to add their cameras to the
registry. Upon completing the form, participants will also be asked to verify their email address
in order to complete the registration.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police
#5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext.7541 or Crime Stoppers at
