Community choir, Village Voices, performs one of their semi-annual major concerts on May 12 at Markham Missionary Church.
The not-for-profit group was formed in 1989 by friends who loved to sing together. The adult mixed-voices ensemble performs in the Markham community and surrounding area. Recent concerts include Pan Am Games and Canada 150 celebrations. The repertoire includes traditional as well as contemporary works.
The upcoming concert, with two performances at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., will be a celebration of mother and child. Highlights include a medley from Les Miz, beautiful lullabies, inspiring songs and an unexpected take on well-known nursery rhymes.
Next year, the choir, a group that has not only survived but thrived through the years, celebrates their 30th anniversary.
The choir rehearses every Wednesday night at the Unionville Presbyterian Church sanctuary and always welcomes new members. There is no need for an audition, just a love of music and song. Visit villagevoices.ca or email [email protected] for information.
