Flato Markham Theatre will announce the 2018-19 Diamond Season lineup at the annual season launch event on May 14.
Every year, Eric Lariviere, Theatre General Manager, curates a collection of performances that are not only entertaining but thought-provoking as well. “Next season will highlight the incredible diversity of artists from Canada,” says Lariviere. “This Canadian mosaic gives a new meaning to live performing arts, enriched by yet another impressive contingent of international artists and productions from Brazil, China, Cuba, India, Ireland, Mongolia, Spain, and the United States.”
With the upcoming season, the theatre continues to showcase diverse world-class entertainment. “Flato Markham Theatre is a premier cultural destination where creativity and imagination inspire, lifting us on wondrous journeys. The 2018-19 Diamond Season line up promises to amaze,” says Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti.
The season features nine different series: Special Attractions, Comedy, World Stage, Totally Classical, All That Jazz, Great Canadian Performers, Fabulous Footwork, Nostalgia and Family Fun.
The season launch is an evening of dynamic presentations and entertaining showcases by a selection of artists from the upcoming season. The event starts at 7 pm, and tickets are only $10 plus HST.
The Theatre’s Annual Discovery Gala supports the theatre’s commitment to bringing live arts to the community through education programs and outreach initiatives. This year’s gala will be exceptional, featuring a legendary Canadian performer on October 13. With performance-only tickets starting from $125, patrons have already begun to book what promises to be a memorable night with these Canadian superstars. This year, the gala also features a VIP dinner and show option for $300 at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites. This opportunity is a wonderful way to contribute to the fundraiser while sharing a meal with local dignitaries and industry leaders. Additional festivities of the evening for all gala attendees include a popular silent auction, live music in the lobby and special draws. Tickets are selling quickly and the theatre anticipates a sold-out audience.
