Teens face firearms and drugs charges

York Regional Police has charged two 19-year-olds with multiple offences, including firearms offences and drug trafficking, after stopping a vehicle for speeding in Markham.

On Thursday, August 27, 2020, at approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer conducting speed enforcement stopped a vehicle for speeding in the area of Highway 7 East and Ninth Line. The officer observed cannabis readily available to the driver of the vehicle. When searched, officers located a loaded handgun. The passenger was found in possession of cocaine and fentanyl.

Chanel Pryce, of Oshawa, and Lawrence Bruce, of Markham, face multiple charges including possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

The investigation is ongoing.
