A York Catholic District School Board teacher and coach faces sexual assault charges after allegedly committing offences at holiday parties a year apart.
Anthony Ganuelas, 36, of Markham, was charged Jan. 8 with two counts of sexual assault and is scheduled to appear in court in Newmarket on Jan. 23.
Officers launched the investigation on Dec. 22 after a victim reported being sexually assaulted at a party the night before by a man who had been known to him for several years. As part of the investigation, police found a second victim who reported being sexually assaulted by the suspect at a party in December 2017.
Ganuelas is the technology studies department head at St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic High School in Richmond Hill and is described by students on the Rate My Teachers website as “motivational and inspirational.” He is reportedly now on administrative leave.
