Suspects at large in mid-morning bank robberies

At 10:18 a.m., York Regional Police (YRP) responded to the scene at TD Bank on 5762 Highway 7 East, where three individuals armed with knives and a gun demanded cash at a bank. Employees immediately complied and were not harmed as the suspects fled the scene in a getaway vehicle.

An almost identical incident occurred at a bank in neighbouring Vaughan that is leading investigators to believe that they are connected.

Business owners are reminded of the importance of maintaining and updating their video surveillance equipment so that quality images are captured, allowing investigators (and the courts) to identify suspects. These will help in making arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.

Anyone with information related to the incident can contact the YRP Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6631, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-tips. You can also leave an anonymous tip online at or text your tip to CRIMES (274637) using the word YORK at the start of your message.
