Search for gorilla-masked bank bandit continues

Police continue to look for a suspect who wore a gorilla mask and brandished a handgun during an armed bank robbery in June at Vaughan.

York Regional Police responded to a call regarding a suspect who entered CIBC in the area of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West at about 1:10 p.m. on June 15. The suspect obtained a quantity of cash and fled the scene on foot. No one was physically injured during the incident.

Investigators have released surveillance camera images of the suspect and issued a plea for the public’s help in identifying him. The suspect is described as five feet, ten inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing dark pants, a dark long-sleeved shirt with the hood pulled up and a gorilla mask over his face. He was carrying a black bag and armed with a handgun.
