At their second annual gala fundraiser, on Oct. 11, the Varley-McKay Art Foundation of Markham pulled in more than $100,000.
While the event serves as a fundraiser, it also promotes the love of art and culture in the community with the Varley Art Gallery at its core as a vital cultural hub in York Region. The foundation supports the gallery vision in offering outstanding exhibitions, public events, workshops, art camps and curriculum-based educational learning.
On view at the Varley Art Gallery, until January 6, is Witness: Canadian Art of the First World War, a travelling exhibition developed by the Canadian War Museum. Thanks to the support of IBM, admission to the exhibit is free. Visit varleygallery.ca for details.
