Save your appetite for the 14th annual Markham Rotary Ribfest, and enjoy a weekend full of food, entertainment and of course, ribs.
From July 7-9, join the Rotary Club of Markham Sunrise as Ribfest fills the streets of Downtown Markham (179 Enterprise Blvd.) with aromatic food and live music. With the Markham Rotary Ribfest being one of the most popular local hits of the summer, this is an event that you won’t want to miss.
This year’s festival will feature rib trucks from all over North America. Visitors can also expect a diverse set up of food vendors, a beer garden and a fun zone that consists of inflatables and rides. Live music will be another element highlighted at this year’s Ribfest. Not only will there be a list of local performers lined up, but there will also be an open mic night on the last day of the festival.
Every year, proceeds from the Markham Rotary Ribfest go towards a charity of the organization’s choice. This year, all funds will be donated to 360ºkids.
“It’s a great organization that helps both young people get off the streets and young people who are in disenfranchised situations,” said Mike Zenteno, chair of the 2017 Markham Rotary Ribfest. “Kids are something that we all find are vulnerable and need our help and assistance. 360 Kids does a really great job in making sure that the funds raised go to the right places.”
The first annual Ribfest dates back to 2003. This festival is just one of many events that emphasizes the committee’s goals of community involvement in addition to raising funds and awareness for global charities and causes.
“All funds raised go straight to charities, there’s nothing that goes to administration. It’s a lot of fun, people have a great time and they come year after year. So if you like food, or you like music or you just like to be out, the Markham Rotary Ribfest is a good place to go,” said Zenteno.
