Spend some “me time” in the pottery studio and explore the wonderful world of clay in a fun and relaxed environment at the Introduction to Pottery classes.
With the guidance of the professional artist instructor, explore methods of hand-building such as sculpting, surface decoration, slab building and coiling. Participants also have the opportunity to try the pottery wheel. Complete a variety of projects such as bowls, mugs and vases, while mastering basic pottery techniques.
This is the perfect class for beginners and those looking to build their skills. The registration barcode is 356999 and the program includes all supplies and firing. The six sessions take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, starting January 14.
Learn how to throw on the pottery wheel at the Wheel Throwing classes. Techniques include centring, creating different forms such as bowls, plates, vases and mugs. The registration barcode is 356993 for the 1 to 3 p.m. sessions and is 356994 for the 7 to 9 p.m. sessions. Both times are scheduled for Thursdays starting January 16. No experience is required, but classes are for adults and teenagers 16+.
There are also some activities for children scheduled for January.
Let your kids open up their creative minds at the museum’s Pottery Playtime. This four-week program is a perfect introduction to 3D arts and crafts. Children will be learning the step-by-step process of working with clay, exploring hand-building techniques and surface decoration.
