Modo Yoga Markham will be reopening their doors to the public on Wednesday August 12. They have been excitedly preparing the studio, in order to make sure everything is ready for existing and new members. As might be expected, some changes and updates have been made. These temporary changes will allow them to follow the guidelines put forth by the Province to provide a safe space to practice.
New air purifier to filter viruses
The studio has installed a new medical-grade air purifier with a built-in H13 HEPA filter to deliver clean air free from infectious airborne viruses, toxic cleaning chemicals, bioaerosols, odors, bacteria, and allergens. MYM’s new JASPR air purifier meets and exceeds ACH (air change per hour) requirements set forth by industry bodies including the Center for Disease Control. It will provide real-time feedback so we can monitor the air quality in the practice room, and adjust accordingly.
The studio will be asking everyone to wear a mask upon entering the studio and until they are properly distanced on their mat. Once on their mat, participants may remove their mask or choose to keep it on. Once class is over, they will be asked once again to put their mask back on prior to gathering their things and leaving the room.
New class schedule and studio rooms
MYM will have a slow start with four classes per day on weekdays, with the exception of Friday, where there will be three classes per day. On weekends, they will have two classes a day. They will also be continuing with some extra Zoom classes as well, including their popular Karma class.
The Shakti room will remain closed for the time being. The studio will start with Modo classes and Yin/Restorative classes and build from there. As MYM adds classes they will work towards bringing Barre, Core, and Pilates classes back.
Capacity in the hot room will be reduced to 18 spots per class and spots will be clearly marked to ensure proper distancing.
The change rooms will NOT be available during this time and so the studio recommends that you come ready to practice and use the washroom before arriving to reduce contact while in the studio common areas.
Mats, towels, props, and retail items
MYM will temporarily be removing rental mats and towels as well as all props. Please bring your own, and if you need to purchase anything, they will have some available for sale.
They will have some retail products available for purchase, but will also continue to offer the convenience of their online retail store. They ask that you use contactless payment if purchasing items in the studio.
MYM would like to thank their members and the rest of the Markham community for their patience and understanding as they transition to a new normal.
