Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking information to assist in identifying next of kin in an ongoing death investigation in the City of Markham.
On Wednesday, December 9, 2020, shortly before midnight, York Regional Police were called to a residence on Manston Crescent in the City of Markham for a report of an injured person. When officers arrived, a 55 year-old man, who has since been identified as Cheuk Wai Yip, was found deceased. The cause of death was determined to be natural and not suspicious.
Investigators discovered Yip was also referred to as “Paul,” and he worked as a telecommunications engineer in the Greater Toronto Area. He immigrated to Canada from Hong Kong in 2011. It is believed Yip has family who reside in Hong Kong.
To date, investigators have been unable to identify any next of kin for Yip. They are appealing to anyone who may have information that may assist with contacting his family to please come forward.
