Local businesswoman, Andrea Winarski of Easy Peasy Patches, was named one of five finalists in the 2017 Mompreneur awards.
The achievements of women in business were recognized at the March event, with the top award winner taking home a prize worth $30,000.
The task of determining Mompreneur of the Year was determined by a panel of judges.
The winner was chosen based on track record of success; product innovation of business idea; growth potential and scalability; revenue; inspiration to others; and impact on the community.
Easy Peasy Patches was invented by Winarski to mend her young children’s clothing, but the business has since grown to include craft kits and safety reflective patches too. In memory of a close family friend, Don Caldwell, Easy Peasy Patches supports the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research by donating $1 from the sale of each Canadian Pride Easy Peasy Patch.
Winarksi came away quite inspired after the Mompreneur awards event.
“The women in attendance were intelligent, hard-working, supportive and fun… I gained new friends, updated my business skills and left inspired to achieve my business goals.”
