Changes are coming to Milliken GO, which includes a track shift and a new temporary platform as the station undergoes a major transformation.
To get job done, Metrolinx is closing the tracks for the weekend, impacting train service but the transit agency has a plan to keep customers moving.
If you travel along the Stouffville line, prepare to take a GO bus this weekend.
A major track closure is planned to accommodate important changes coming to Milliken GO. Once complete, the station will see updates to the current amenities, a vehicle underpass and a pedestrian bridge, to name a few.
These major changes will make the station more accessible but for now, they will temporarily change the way you access the train platform.
Crews will be working over the weekend of October 16-18 to build a new, temporary platform and must close the track since the work can only be completed when trains aren’t running.
That means on Friday (Oct. 16) the northbound 7:14 p.m. trip from Union Station – Mount Joy will be extended to Lincolnville and the last northbound trip will be at 8:14 pm.
After the last train, GO bus services will be available from Union Station Bus Terminal and run express to Unionville GO and then makes all stops to Lincolnville GO.
The last southbound train from Mount Joy GO will be at 7:35 p.m. After the last train, GO bus service will be available from Mount Joy GO to Unionville GO and then run express to Union Station Bus Terminal.
Alternatively, Kennedy, Agincourt and Milliken passengers can take the TTC.
GO train service will also be impacted on Saturday and Sunday. GO bus service will be available northbound and southbound between Lincolnville GO or Mount Joy GO and Union Station Bus Terminal.
The work over the weekend means customers will see a new entrance to the temporary west platform that will be open and available as of Monday October 19.
When the work is done by the end of 2022, customers will have access to a new second track and platform, a renovated existing platform and two new pedestrian tunnels with elevators. To learn more about the changes coming to Milliken GO, click here.
As for the changes happening this weekend, Metrolinx is reminding customers to plan ahead and check the schedules online. For those who are using PRESTO to tap on the device when boarding and exiting the GO bus and not to tap on the machines at the station.
As always, face coverings are mandatory aboard the GO bus and to avoid lining up at the station, customers can load money onto their PRESTO card using the PRESTO App or buy their ticket online.
Regular GO train service will resume on October 19.
