Markham Pan-Am Centre hosts Ontario badminton finals

The top young badminton players in the province will be battling for supremacy at Markham’s Pan-Am Centre this weekend.

Beginning on Friday, Markham will play host to the Black Knight Ontario Junior ‘A’ Championships.

There will be competitions for both boys and girls in the singles, doubles and mixed divisions, with the solo tournament opening up on Friday while the other two begin play Saturday.

Athletes will be competing in the under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-19 divisions. All players above the youngest age group needed to either qualify for the event, receive a district nomination or an exemption in order to participate.

The finals in each category are scheduled to take place on Sunday morning, beginning at 10 a.m.

Admission to the championships is free for spectators.
