Join the fun on June 8 for the opening of Markham Museum’s newest exhibition. Markham Moves is intriguing for all ages and is the ultimate experience focused on transportation throughout the ages.
Learn how transportation has changed over time and how it has affected the development of our community. Explore innovations that are creating more sustainable modes of transportation for the future and test your own ideas for improving transportation technology.
“It is fascinating to see all the different modes of transportation and how technologies have evolved and changed our community over the years,” says Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. “Innovation and creativity is key to moving our community forward, all while becoming more sustainable. In Markham, we believe in building quality infrastructure to get you where you need to go, all while creating a healthy, greener world now and for generations to come.”
Admission to the opening reception is free and kids can enjoy hands-on learning with kinetic toys and design challenges, test out their driving skills on bikes, pedal cars and mini racers, and even build their own toy vehicle.
Be sure to check out the Ball Drop Zone and car ramp, among the many other family-friendly activities and play areas the exhibition has to offer.
“ Markham Moves explores how transportation technology continues to shapes our lives today and in the future, and how its evolution throughout Markham’s history has guided the development of our community,” says Cathy Molloy, Manager, Markham Museum.
Markham Moves will be on display until January 2021. Learn more about the exhibition at www.markhammuseum.ca.
