Markham celebrates Innovation Week

Markham Council has proclaimed May 6 to 12 ‘Innovation Week in the City of Markham’ to celebrate Markham innovators and business leaders.

The week started with a flag raising May 6 at the Civic Centre with special guest speakers: Steve Astorino, Canada Lab Director, IBM; Ted Graham, Head of Open Innovation, GM Canada; and Jaye Block, Communications and Public Affairs, AMD.

With the perfect mix of diversity, talent and innovation, Markham is home to a thriving and robust business ecosystem with more than 1,500 high-tech and life sciences companies creating 37,000 jobs.

Toronto may be the 6ix, but Markham is the #BigM. We are calling on all residents and businesses to #ScaleUp their education, career, business, and life in Markham.

Throughout the week, we are encouraging businesses and residents to join the conversation and leverage their social media accounts to share how you #ScaleUP in the #BigM. For instance:

  • What are you doing to #ScaleUP your business in Markham?
  • How can you #ScaleUP your talent in Markham?
  • How do you #ScaleUP your career in Markham?
  • What do you do to #ScaleUP your quality of life in Markham?

We also invite you to share your love for the #BigM by taking a selfie making an “M” with your index and middle finger touching. Post your selfie on social media using the #ScaleUP and #BigM hashtags.

You can visit markham.ca/ScaleUp to learn more and get involved.
