Man charged in Richmond Hill collision

A Richmond Hill man faces numerous charges following a collision that sent a two-year-old and a seven-year-old to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

York Regional Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which took place at about 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 4 at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Shaw Boulevard.

Aidin Najafi, 28, the driver of a white 2011 Audi convertible sedan, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

The same vehicle had been involved in a separate collision just moments before, this one involving another vehicle at the intersection of Sala Drive and Carville Road. No injuries were reported in that collision.
