LGBTQ2 charity’s 25th anniversary celebration

On May 11, join Pflag – the Regional Municipality of York’s LGBTQ2 support, resource and education network – for the 6th Annual Stand Proud York Region Charity Gala, presented by KPMG, as they celebrate 25 years of supporting and celebrating diversity in our community.

This year’s theme is the Roaring 20s and promises to be lots of fun with live music by Stereoflavour.

This is the most colourful celebration of the year benefiting the LGBTQ2 community. Funds raised at this event go directly to the community by helping Pflag provide vital peer-to-peer support services to those in need, educational materials for schools so kids never feel alone, and training and workshops to organizations who want to be more inclusive.

This year’s event will feature Baby Bel Bel, one of Toronto’s premiere drag queens, and honour the organization’s past leaders.

Past Presidents Marilyn Byers, Linda Keith, Amanda Knegje and Michael Blackburn will be presented with Pflag’s OUTstanding Achievement Awards for their significant contributions to the LGBTQ2 community in York Region and beyond, and for making our world a better place.

This year’s gala takes place at Angus Glen. The party gets started at 5:30 p.m. for cocktail hour, followed by dinner and then the OUTstanding Achievement Awards.
