Canada’s Remembrance Day tradition, Operation Raise a Flag, returned with a special tribute to Veterans with the addition of a symbol this year that honours the sacrifices and contributions made by Indigenous Veterans.

The Markham Islanders players did their part to make sure we continue to remember those that fought for our freedom. The U13A team were out planting flags at Sunnybrook Hospital the night before Remembrance Day. The local AAA hockey team had fun bonding and can now appreciate Remembrance Day a little more.

“I am so proud of these kids and staff,” said Randy Jacobs, General Manager of Markham Islanders.

“Our Assistant coach in the far right of the picture is with the RCMP and he takes his team each year to this (Sunnybrook) event. so important for us all to never forget. our head Coach Jordan also serves with the Military.” added Jacobs.

Thank You Veterans!
