Hit-and-run driver urged to contact police

Police continue to look for the hit-and-run driver of a white pickup truck with a black trailer after a cyclist was struck in Markham and left with serious injuries.

The 47-year-old female cyclist from Toronto had been riding north on Kennedy Road near Helen Avenue on Thursday, June 4 between 9:25 and 9:45 a.m. when a white pickup truck that was towing a trailer and also travelling north began honking the horn and tried to pass her, York Regional Police report.

The trailer struck the cyclist as the truck was merging back into the lane. Anyone who may have been driving in the area with dashcam is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Bureau at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7541. The driver who fled the scene is urged to obtain legal counsel and to contact police immediately.
