Golf fundraiser supports Prostate Cancer of Canada

The 5th Annual “Partners for a Cure” Golf Fundraiser will be held this year on Aug. 20 at the Angus Glen Golf Club.

In order to ensure the success of the organization’s fundraiser, it is seeking out new contributors interested in helping cover some costs associated with the event so all the funds raised can go directly towards the Markham Chapter of Prostate Cancer Canada. “Investors Group has generously agreed to be the anchor sponsor again this year,” said fundraiser organizer Anne Lawrence.

“Creating Partners for a Cure was a priority for us in 2010 after my husband Steve was diagnosed with cancer and in remission, and then my youngest sister and mother were confirmed as breast cancer treatment recipients.”

Organizers have expanded the tournament from an original group of 12 to a target this year of 90 golfers that include family and friends from York Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

“We expect great enthusiasm from our community again this year.  To date we have raised over $50,000,” added Lawrence.

Lawrence said her team is looking for sponsors to be involved in their local event; perhaps to sponsor one of the charming Angus Glen holes or to donate prizes, perhaps even join the fun and play a round of golf.  Generous donors are key to the tournament and fundraising efforts’ success.

All sponsors and contributions will be highlighted during the awards ceremony.
