Discarded syringes found near elementary school

Police are informing residents of an incident which occurred in close proximity to a Toronto elementary school in the Roncesvalles Avenue and Dundas Avenue West area.

On September 4 at approximately 11:30 a.m., three children located discarded syringes which were left in the area, unaware of the potential risks, they picked up the syringes and are believed to have been poked by the needles.

The children were taken to hospital to receive medical attention.

Parents are reminded to have a conversation with their children about the potential health and safety hazards of discarded syringes. Children should be advised to not touch syringes and to notify an adult immediately. Adults should then exercise caution if they decide to remove the syringe, and call 311 to request a pick up.
