Downtown Markham provides a taste of the holidays as the CTV Toy Mountain returns to the Pride of Canada Carousel on Dec. 13. Residents are encouraged to drop off their toy donations at the carousel and stay for free carousel rides starting at 5:30 p.m. Kids can also visit with Santa and enjoy treats and beverages courtesy of The Remington Group and local sponsors.

To celebrate Toy Mountain and the annual opening of its outdoor rink, Remington has invited members of Markham Skating Club, a 120-member wind symphony from Markham District High School and drummers from Parkview Public School to create special holiday performances leading up to, and during, the live CTV broadcast. On-air host Tom Brown will be broadcasting multiple live hits throughout the 6 p.m. news.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their skates and try out the free outdoor rink.

The December fun will end with a big bang. Plan on joining the excitment at this year’s New Year’s Eve concert and countdown to the fireworks show on Dec. 31. Live musical entertainment will begin at 10 p.m.
