To accommodate growth, York Region is widening and improving Bayview Avenue from Elgin Mills Road to Stouffville Road and 19th Avenue from Linda Margaret Crescent/Jefferson Forest Drive to Bayview Avenue.

To complete the rail crossing, 19th Avenue from Linda Margaret Crescent/Jefferson Forest Drive to Bayview Avenue was closed during the Canada Day long weekend.

To accommodate construction under the CN Rail bridge, a temporary three-month Bayview Avenue road closure between 19th Avenue and Glen Meadow Lane is required, leaving Bayview Avenue closed until September 30, 2017.

Construction is well underway and occurring in three sections:

(1) Bayview Avenue from Elgin Mills Road to 19th Avenue: This section of Bayview Avenue is being widened from two to four lanes and construction along this section began in fall 2015. Work this year includes: widening the road from two to four lanes, installing storm sewer on the west side of the road, and installing curbs, boulevards, street lighting, bike lanes and sidewalks. Major construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of fall 2017.

(2) 19th Avenue from Linda Margaret Crescent to Bayview Avenue: 19th Avenue is being widened from two to four lanes and construction along this section began in spring 2016. Work this year includes: final road work, completion of the railway crossing, and landscaping. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of fall 2017.

(3) Bayview Avenue from 19th Avenue to Stouffville Road: Bayview Avenue is being widened to four lanes and construction along this section began in spring 2016.
