City celebrates outstanding contributions of seniors

The city celebrated our outstanding senior volunteers at the Mayor’s Seniors Hall of Fame Awards Oct. 2 at the civic centre. The evening was attended by special guest, Lloyd Robertson – long time Canadian journalist and former CTV news anchor.

Seniors over the age of 60 living in Markham for the past 10 years who made a “unique and outstanding contribution to the Markham community” were recognized at the three part event. The evening kicked off with a flag raising ceremony by the Community and Home Assistance to Seniors, followed by the awards and then a reception afterward.

This year marks the 19th annual awards that were attended by Mayor Frank Scarpitti, members of council, seniors Hall of Fame committee members, nominees and past winners. For information, visit:
