Annual awards ceremony celebrates local business leaders

The Markham Board of Trade held its 27th Annual Business Excellence Awards Gala on November 9, where recipients were recognized for
their contributions in various categories.

This year’s Business Excellence Awards recipients are:
• Business Employer of Excellence: J.D. Barnes Limited
• Community Relations & Cultural Enrichment: Ashgrove Spa
• The Donald Cousens Conservation & Environmental Leadership Award: Park Property Management Inc.
• Entrepreneurship: Marketing Kitchen
• Global Business Excellence: Mediflow Inc.
• High Quality & Service: CAA Club Group
• Innovation: Huawei Canada/Seneca College HALP Program

Pyarali Nanji, CEO of Belle-Pak Packaging Inc., was named The Anthony Roman Award recipient. This honour recognizes a community leader who has been successful in building their own business, has helped other companies succeed, has created local employment and
has taken a very active part in contributing to the community through charitable and humanitarian efforts.

“Over the past 27 years, the Markham Board of Trade has honoured more than 300 businesses and individuals with awards of excellence. The 2017 recipients join an elite group of companies that have made Markham the location of choice for established and growing
businesses in the G.T.A.,” said Richard Cunningham, Markham Board of Trade’s President & CEO. “Congratulations to this year’s Awards recipients and all of the finalists, as well as our sponsors for their support, and special thanks to the Business Excellence Awards

The Business Excellence Awards are Markham’s annual celebration of entrepreneurial spirit, success, and business ingenuity.
