People living or working in York Region are encouraged to walk together to celebrate the strength of survivors and offer support to those still living in violence and abuse.
Yellow Brick House is thrilled that St. Andrew’s College is the title sponsor and host of “Break The Silence – Step in My Shoes Walk – 2019.”
Founded in 1978, Yellow Brick House provides life-saving support services and prevention programs to meet the diverse needs of individuals, families, and communities impacted by violence.
Over 5,300 women and children received life-saving support from Yellow Brick House last year.
“Yellow Brick House provides a safe haven for women and children to escape violent and abusive homes,” said Lorris Herenda, executive director of Yellow Brick House.
“By walking to celebrate their strength, we can show these women and children how much they matter, how much you care, and make their safety a priority or a reality, maybe for the first time in their lives.”
Every $150 you raise provides a night of safety for a woman or child.
The goal is to raise $60,000 to provide women and children escaping violence a year of safety and security.
Join the movement on November 3 and walk to Break the Silence against violence in our community. Registration is online or on site at St. Andrew’s College (15800 Yonge Street, Aurora) beginning at 10 a.m. with the walk commencing at 11 a.m. and closing ceremonies at approximately 1 p.m.
