Looking for something to do this summer? Well Unionville BIA has you covered.
The organization has come up with some great activities and entertainment planned for the community and visitors from outside of Markham and Unionville.
Here are just some things people will be able to enjoy:
– Live music every Friday to Sunday all along Main Street
– Complimentary Horse & Carriage Rides every other Sunday
– Thursday Nights at the Bandstand: free concert series every Thursday featuring amazing cover bands/artists
– Concert Sundays: local bands perform every Sunday from the York Region and GTA
– Stiver Mill Farmers Market
As well, from Aug. 18 to 21, the TD Markham Jazz Festival will showcase amazing Jazz artists.
Unionville BIA Executive Director Kendra Hui said it’s already leading to a great summer.
“It is going to be a great summer and we are excited to bring back community favourites as well,” said Hui. “Back is ‘Movies on Main’, a free outdoor movie series every second Wednesday.”
Partnering with Unionville for the summer long event is Moksha Yoga Markham for Yoga who will be holding free classes at the Millennium Bandstand (corner of Main Street and Fred Varley Drive) every Sunday (excluding the weekend of Aug. 26) from 10 to 11 a.m. until Sept. 11. There are heated and not heated yoga classes.
Studio owners and co-directors, Leah Georgiou and Denise Tsiu said they are excited to be part of this event and they hope a lot of people will come out to the classes.
“People will enjoy our Moksha classes,” Georgiou said. “It teaches the importance of building and living g a calm, fit and inspired life.”
They believe a healthy community is a happy one.
“By building community, based on health and wellness, will make a very healthy fit community, which in the end is a happy one,” Tsiu said.
