Ah, summer. Time for sun, relaxation, barbeques and other fun events hosted by politicians and want-to-be politicians.

This summer is no different as provincial candidates vie for their party’s nomination and elected ones get back to the grassroots, talking with the people who got them there.

Markham-Stouffville MPP Helena Jaczek is hosting her 10th annual BBQ at Stouffville’s Memorial Park (near Park Drive and Main St.) on August 20 from 1-4 pm. Yup, it’s free. Bring your appetite.

Meanwhile, on the federal side, Markham Unionville MP Bob Saroya will be bringing out the big gun, newly elected party leader Andrew Scheer, for his second free event of the season, this time at Wismer Park, at 980 Bur Oak Ave in Markham. This is your chance to grill the man who wants to be the Prime Minister while he grills your burger. This event goes from 12 noon to 3 pm on August 19. Have fun.
