The Markham Stouffville Hospital received prominent recognition at the European Healthcare Design Awards Congress and Exhibition in London, UK.

Designed by B+H Architects, the Markham Stouffville Hospital is being regarded as a premium example of how a typical suburban acute-care hospital can be transformed into a mixed-use community hub for health and wellness.

This forward-thinking design is being embraced because it shifts the perception of the hospital being an isolated place where only those affected by an illness or disease exist. The integration of the hospital into a wellness hub allows for cost-savings (physical therapy in the community centre pool, medical library integrated into the public library) and connecting more approaches to wellness for a more sustainable healthcare model.
