Rogers Hometown Hockey, the popular television series that celebrates our national pastime on the community level, is coming to Markham.

On Mar. 3 and 4 the crew from Rogers Sportsnet television will set up for a number of hockey-themed events featuring games, prizes and other activities meant to show the rest of the country why Markham has earned its standing as a hockey hotbed.

As well, the free event will feature National Hockey League alumni, music and chance to interact via virtual reality with today’s stars of the game.

The event will culminate on March 4 when hosts Ron MacLean and Tara Slone will broadcast live from the event as they tell the stories that celebrate the area’s hockey history that have put Markham on Canada’s hockey map.

Hometown Hockey will be at Markham Centre, 179 Enterprise Blvd., from noon to 6 p.m. on Mar. 3 and noon to 10 p.m. on Mar. 4.
