Starting your performance career in ballet class at a dance studio in Stouffville may not, at first glance, seem like a certain path to Hollywood success but Amy Forsyth is well on her way to proving it possible.

The Markham born actress is a veteran of local theatre companies Unionville Theatre Company, Markham Youth Theatre and City Youth Players but is now lighting up TV screens across North America.

Appearances on Degrassi: The Next Generation and the CW’s Reign garnered her great reviews and led her to a leading roll in the popular American series, The Path (which aired on Showcase in Canada). Forsyth hasn’t looked back since.

You can look for her next in the second season of the thriller series, Channel Zero: The No End House which also airs on Showcase in Canada.

The 22-year-old starlet is also currently in production for the upcoming NBC hourlong, Drama High. Variety magazine calls it the story of “incredible students who come alive under a passionate teacher”. Think Glee meets Friday Night Lights for this one.

For Amy Forsyth, the path to success certainly started at that ballet class in Stouffville. Keep an eye out for her.
