York region hosted its annual Gateway Conference October 30 at Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre, connecting new Canadians with potential employers in the area. Mayor Frank Scarpitti delivered opening remarks at the event after Wayne Emmerson, chairman and CEO of the Regional Municipality of York and MC Sangita Patel, a Canadian TV personality. Rock supergroup, Guns N’ Roses wrapped up a second and two-night stop in Toronto Oct. 30 on their Not In This Lifetime reunion tour at the Air Canada Centre. The city further solidified its friendship with China’s Shunde District in an intention agreement signing ceremony Oct. 26 at the civic centre. The city held a press conference with the Hindu Heritage Month committee to announce a celebration of the Hindu Canadian community Nov. 12.
