Fountain of Love and Life Annual Gala

Over 820 people from the Canadian Chinese Catholic community, including over 30 clergies/religious from different parishes, religious orders and ministries in and outside the Greater Toronto area, attended the Fountain of Love and Life (FLL) Annual Gala held in Markham on June 12 to raise funds for the lay apostolate. Thanks to the generous support of many guests/supporters, FLL has successfully raised over $154,000 in donations and pledges through this gala. Fake bomb threat call made from Aurora pay phone

On May 12, 2016 at 6:43 a.m. an unknown male suspect used a pay phone located at the GO Station on 121 Wellington Street East in the Town of Aurora to call in a fake bomb threat. YRT/Viva fare changes

Fares for PRESTO cards, monthly passes and tickets will increase by a weighted average of two per cent as of Friday, July 1, 2016. All cash fares will remain at the existing rate. YRT/Viva has seen an increase in ridership from 18.3 million in 2009 to 22.1 million in 2015, an increase of approximately 22 per cent. Fare changes offset rising operating costs and support the cost of delivering service to the growing ridership. Man formerly involved in Vaughan hockey charged with historical sexual assaults

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Crimes Against Children Section have charged a 67-year-old man following an investigation into the sexual assault of a boy in the 1970s. On January 30, 2014, investigators spoke with a man who had come forward to report historical sexual assaults that had occurred when he was a child, playing hockey in the City of Vaughan. Markham holds vigil to honour Orlando victims

Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti, members of council, and Pflag Canada York Region hosted a vigil in support of the LGBTQ victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Over 200 people gathered at the Markham Civic Centre for the ceremony held on June 14.
