GTA ENTERTAINMENT: John Mayer brought it home in Toronto last night

John Mayer made a second stop in Toronto while on The Search for Everything Tour, playing to a jam packed house at the Budweiser stage Aug. 29. Known for playing lots of new music at his shows, Mayer also spoiled the adoring crowd with all-time faves like Vultures, Gravity, No Such Thing and his stylistic rendition of Tom Petty classic, Free Falling. This summer, Canadians across the country celebrated Canada 150 and in the City of Markham, the celebration continues!. On September 9 and 10, the city’s biggest event of 2017 is taking place in celebration at the Markham Civic Centre. Fighting fit at fundraiser for at risk youth

This past weekend, Fight Fitness Markham hosted The Potluck of Meaning fundraiser for 360°kids to help support at-risk youth in York Region. The event connected people over meaningful dishes and the stories of our communities for a great cause, raising $1000. Crowds came out for 2017 Children’s Festival

The Children’s event of the year returned to the Civic Centre this past weekend for its 19th year and brought in crowds in the thousands from across the GTA and Southern Ontario. The event featured live entertainment, Disney princesses and superheroes, kids play zones, and various Canada 150 themed activities. GTA students awarded largest undergrad scholarship in Canada

This fall, the 2017 class of Schulich Leader Scholarship recipients will be headed off to university. Now in its sixth year, the scholarship program encourages high school graduates to embrace STEM (science, technology, engineering or mathematics) in their future careers. How does it work? Two scholarship recipients are selected at each of the 20 participating universities, with five of these universities receiving an additional two scholarships for attracting the most applications. Twenty-five undergraduate scholarships, valued at $100,000, are given out to students pursuing engineering degrees.
